The Communities Minister has said that faith groups will be a key to delivering the Government’s levelling up agenda.
Responding to a letter from the Catholic Union earlier this year, Paul Scully MP, said that “faith groups inspire their communities to dedicate themselves to public service and provide support to those in need.”
The Catholic Union had urged Ministers to work more closely with faith groups in making levelling up a reality, drawing on the experience of church groups in supporting local communities during the pandemic.
In response, Mr Scully said that faith groups would be “key agents of change on the ground” when it came to delivering the missions in the Government’s flagship Levelling Up White Paper.
He also said that the Government’s Faith New Deal would “develop a vision of partnership between all faith groups, local government, and central Government, to help build strong communities and tackle the drivers of division.”
The Catholic Union will continue to make the case for better working between Government and faith groups to help tackle problems in our society from houselessness to loneliness.
