Catholic Union Summer Gathering, Saturday 1 July

Please join us for our Summer Gathering at Douai Abbey, the Benedictine monastic community near Reading, Berkshire on Saturday 1 July.  The Summer Gathering is generously sponsored by The Universe Catholic Weekly

The day will start with Holy Mass in the Abbey Church at 11am and will conclude after a historical talk and tour of the Abbey at 5pm. As well as hearing from our President Sir Edward Leigh and others about the current political landscape and discussing the work of the Catholic Union, there will also be the opportunity to join the monastic community for Midday Prayer and for Vespers at 6pm.

Tickets cost £28 per person which includes lunch and tea/coffee. The draft programme is set out below. There is wheelchair access throughout the Abbey. Unfortunately, no residential accommodation is available at the Abbey for this event.

16.00 – Talk about the history of Douai Abbey and Tour (Fr Oliver)

17.00 – Departure or stay on for Vespers

18.00 – Vespers

Douai Abbey is situated in Berkshire, between Reading and Newbury, off Junction 12 of the M4. For SatNav please follow RG7 5TQ.  The nearest station is Midgham and some buses are available.  Please see the Douai Abbey website for further travel arrangements.
