Winners of the Catholic Young Writer Award gathered at the Catholic Union’s AGM where they received their prizes from Baroness Hollins, President of the Catholic Union.
Joanna Bogle of the Keys, the Catholic Writers Guild of England and Wales says: “Once again we had some fantastic entries and it was hard to choose between them. Students were invited to write about the Sacraments choosing either Matrimony or the Eucharist for specific attention”.
Students were asked to imagine that a friend had asked a question about one of the Sacraments and they had to give an explanation using the Scriptural references, and the Catechism of the Catholic Church to assist them.
Professor Peter Hindmarsh, Chair of the Catholic Union Charitable Trust says: “I am delighted that the Catholic Union Charitable Trust has supported this important award for the twelfth year. Young people are the future and it is wonderful to see so many amazing entries with students giving so much thought to the Sacraments”.
The Award was initiated by The Keys, the Catholic Writers’ Guild of England and Wales, some 30 years ago.
