The Catholic Union has written to the Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, congratulating him on his appointment and wishing him every success in the job.
Letters have also been sent to a number of high ranking Government Ministers all highlighting the challenging times and the need to engage with faith communities, including the views and interests of the 4.5 million Catholics in Britain, in order to advance the common good.
Nigel Parker, Director the Catholic Union, comments: “There are a number of pressing issues where our expertise can assist the new administration, in particular the need to ensure fairer taxes for families, championing fundamental human rights, persecution, and valuing Catholic and other faith schools in our education system. We look forward to working with the new Prime Minister in what is proving to be a very turbulent time. The Catholic Union will continue to engage with politicians from all sides to promote the common good.”
