US Supreme Court rules in favour of same sex marriage advocates

It has been reported today that the US Supreme Court has overturned the “Defense of Marriage Act” (1996), which has until now denied federal benefits to same-sex couples legally “married” in 12 US States including the federal capital, Washington DC.

In a second decision, the Court held that a complaint of activists against same sex marriage in California was not admissible, which now allows for same-sex marriages to take place in California once more.
