The Catholic Union is delighted to announce that it will be holding a webinar on Monday 16 March at 6.00pm to explore whether science poses a threat to today’s Catholicism. Chaired by Catherine Pepinster, well known journalist, attendees will hear from Revd Dr Gareth Leyshon, Astrophysicist, Catholic Priest of the Archdiocese of Cardiff-Menevia and parish priest of the four churches comprising Our Lady of the Valleys.
Reverend Dr Gareth Leyshon says: “There are many areas of science and faith that need to be reconciled. This webinar with the Catholic Union is a great opportunity to unpick various issues and examine how and why the Church engages with science and rational evidence”.
Dr Leyshon, Astrophysicist, has been key in the evangelisation work in the Archdiocese of Cardiff having built up a network of 150 lay Catholics keen to share faith across the length and breadth of the Archdiocese and also through the Cornerstone project. He is currently Vice-Chair of the Charismatic Diocesan Service of Communion for South Wales and Herefordshire.
Catherine Pepinster, Journalist, says: “There is huge scope in this webinar to discuss issues about where ideology meets science, this is particularly relevant with so many contentious issues of today such as gene therapy and how we deal with disease. I am looking forward to the discussion with Dr Leyshon and to bottom out whether science poses a threat to today’s Catholicism or not”.
Those wishing to register for the webinar on Monday 16 March at 6.00pm please email info@catholicunion.org.uk and a zoom link will be provided. Booking is essential.
