The Catholic Union is delighted to invite members to our annual Summer Gathering.

This year’s event will be taking place at Douai Abbey on Saturday 1 July.  It is generously sponsored by The Universe Catholic Weekly

The day will start with Holy Mass in the Parish Church at 11am and will conclude after a historical talk and tour of the Abbey at 5pm. As well as hearing from our President Sir Edward Leigh and others about the current political landscape and discussing the work of the Catholic Union, there will also be the opportunity to join the monastic community for Midday Prayer and for Vespers at 6pm.

Tickets cost £28 per person which includes lunch and tea/coffee.

DIRECTIONS FROM THE DOUAI ABBEY WEBSITE:

Douai Abbey is situated 1 mile north of the A4 about half way between Reading and Newbury in Berkshire. By car, the turn off to the abbey from the A4 is about 6 miles along the A4 from Junction 12 of the M4. The interactive Google Map below shows our location more clearly. For GPS and satnavs, all you need is our postcode: RG7 5TQ.

By rail the nearest station is called Midgham, even though it is actually in Woolhampton village. Trains stop at Midgham from London Paddington, Reading and Newbury. You can plan a rail journey to here on the Great Western Railway website.

There are no taxis available at Midgham station or in Woolhampton village. The nearest taxi rank is at Thatcham station, about 5 miles from Douai.
